Desert Rain

When the kite was up in the flare

Sun glittering above

When my voice echoed in the air

Breeze washed his footprints

His eyes excited with the height

Moving with flying colour

He forgot the approaching night

As I fine-tuned the melody

Wind spread his essence to the blue

Where the clouds waited to fall

I doodled his name on the shoe

And covered the footprint that was left

Rejoiced in sheer fun he splashed

Showers of sweat fell on the ground

The droplets unveiled and crashed

Reminding me of the desert rain

Mountain Mist

During the ice falls

I waited

In the frozen mist

I built the mountains

Lost in the trails

Chilled in the cold

Rippled in thirst

I wrote to dispel

The tune of sway

Flamed the dews

I took the brushes

Coloured the clouds

The spell of sun

Fell on the earth

And I melted

The mountain mists

Love in the air

Fell in the form of drops

And I said

It’s raining

Is it love

Or a monsoon

Who knows?

I am under the rain

Beauty

Watching the sun

I missed the beauty

Watching the ocean

I missed the beauty

Watching the woods

I missed the beauty

What I missed

Is me

The beautiful thing of Earth

Alone

When the shadow roared
I felt that I wanted to scream
But who was holding my neck
Why was my voice not coming out?

In the aching pain I cried
I was alone in the dust
Some people walked over me
I wish I had said something

In the hospital I saw faces
When the nurse looked confused
I worried about what was going on
The volcanoes were ready to erupt

Test after test I waited
The result was my fate
Accept or reject is not a choice
I had to go alone with the findings

When the trees are bare
And embrace the chillness
The birds too leave them behind
And find shelter for their favour

My silence is your selection
Let the darkness boom
If I do the same that you did
What’s the difference between you and me?

The Casuarina

During the eruption we saw the smoke

Aching pain held us tight

The moments of emission

We were frozen

Through the air we travelled with time

Under the casuarina tree

We made our home

We were children and were happy

Covered in silence I bowed my head

She never asked, did I miss her?

I wanted to hear a word of anger

How could I know she loved me in pain?

The wind blew and the casuarina bent

We jumped onto her branches

Swinging in the breeze

And nattering to her dews

The heaps cracked; softness melted

Wings of the casuarina held us intact

In the twisting and turning

Tuning the rhythm with the rapport

Rainbow

The scrap book flipped

Roughness of love

Flawed and defective

Without editing

Wiped it all out

And I filled it

With colours of the rainbow

When I chose violet

You shook your head

When I drew indigo

You showed a grin

When I picked the blue

You said it looks nice

I tinted you in green

And tied it with a yellow rose

When the orange blasted

I locked red on your lips

In the rainbow’s perfection

The sky seemed vibrant

In the spectrum

I wrote

Not in glitter

Or in syrup

A friend’s name that I can trust!

Fallen Petals

Valentine’s Day is over

Red roses sighed

As I danced in the breeze

You came with a knife

Cut my root

In the shop

He called my name

In his hand I swayed

When he looked at her

I knew I was not the one

How sweet!

Graced in syrup

She honoured me proudly

I burst into laughter

With the blabbering lassie

Love was labelled

When you slept on my petals

Next dawn you forgot me

Between sweet and sour

I was so puzzled

In my desire

You will be my friend

I will not wish to see you near

You are the love

And I am the beauty
