Chasing Shadows

I have been chasing shadows from my childhood
Sometimes they are fun to play with
I always tried to stamp on my shadow
But it would run before or after and gave me no chance

As I grow old I am scared of the shadows
They frighten me in the darkness
I carry the angels to keep them away
In the midst of insecurity I draw the lines

I trail the shadows of my companions
I get the chance to make my mark on their hearts
Between excitement and insanity some take it wisely
And I try to love the shadows that I come across

The shadows alter their sizes and shapes
They voice stories of haunted frames
Shadows taught me fact and fantasy
I flouted the shades to fill with melody.
